Outdoor Yoga Classes
It's here at last - the chance to finally come together again in person for our small-group yoga classes! And we're thrilled to announce that we've been generously offered the use of several gorgeous, privately-owned properties from which to host your favourite yoga classes outdoors this year - two of which are just blocks from the studio!
We have a super line-up of classes for you to choose from - all simultaneously Zoomed and recorded to still provide as much flexibility as possible in participating. |
We are so excited to see you again - we have missed you!
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to frequently asked (or anticipated) questions you may have:
How do I sign up for outdoor classes?
For each class that is offered both outdoors and online, you will see that there are 2 separate listings for the class in Mindbody - both on the same day and time. To sign up for the outdoor class, simply sign up for the "Outdoor" listing for the class; to sign up for the virtual/recorded version, simply sign up for the "Online" listing. Please be sure to choose the correct one so we know whether to expect you in person or not!
Is there a cancellation policy for outdoor classes?
Yes. We'll be implementing our usual in-studio cancellation policy, as many of our teachers travel a distance to come to the area to teach, and also because we will be providing classes with limited sizes again so it's important that we ensure everyone has the opportunity to join when spots are available. The policy is that if you need to cancel, please do so with at least 8 hours notice for outdoor classes, or we will have to charge you for the class as if you had come. For those with unlimited passes, we will charge a cancellation fee of $12 + HST for cancellations less than 8 hours before the class. Note that there is no penalty for cancelling a virtual class.
What is done in the case of inclement weather?
If we determine that a class should be cancelled due to inclement weather, we will notify students with as much advance notice as possible, and we will not charge any cancellation fees of course. Students will have the option of doing the class online if they wish, and the class will still be done and recorded if there are students signed up for the online version.
How small are the outdoor classes - what is the max number of students?
Our motto has always been "Small Classes. Big Difference." so we're eager to get back to doing what we love to do: offering small, intimate classes where everyone gets a lot of attention and customization. So our outdoor classes will be capped at 6 students.
Will you still run a class if there's only 1 person signed up?
Yes! However, if there is no one signed up for an outdoor class 2 hours before it's start time, we will cancel the class. This is because instructors have to travel in to teach in-person and many live outside the area.
What will be done to ensure participating outdoors in-person will comply with current COVID regulations for Stage 1 re-opening?
Everyone will be asked the current standard set of COVID-related questions before attending an outdoor class, and records will be kept with their profiles in MINDBODY. All mats and participants will be spaced at least 3m (10 feet) apart, and masks will be required if at any point while coming in or leaving a location a distance of 2m cannot be kept.
What do I need to bring for an outdoor yoga class?
You'll need at minimum a mat and a mask, and you may want to bring a water bottle, and sunscreen if you'd like to practice in the sun.
What is the cost of an outdoor class?
These in-person classes are the same amount our regular in-studio classes would be. Besides being outside, they are still small classes directly with an experienced instructor. Also, instructors have to travel to come in to teach in-person, many from a distance, so need to be compensated more. Plus, Yoga Grove is paying for the use of these properties, so there are tangible additional costs to providing these classes.
What if I have a virtual-class pass or a virtual membership?
Virtual passes will not be able to be used for outdoor in-person classes. You may request to have existing passes credited to your account and use that credit to purchase outdoor classes instead. Note that outdoor class passes do allow you to book both outdoor (in-person) and virtual classes - they cover both. As for memberships, contact us to upgrade your virtual membership to a full membership to include unlimited virtual and in-person classes both.
Can I use passes or memberships that I bought before COVID for outdoor classes?
Yes, you certainly can! Any pass or membership that is not "virtual" can be used for outdoor classes (and for virtual and recorded classes). Let us know if your pass has "expired" over this long stretch - we always extend the expiry date on demand (there is no process to do so automatically, unfortunately).
If I have an outdoor/in-person class pass or membership, will I still be able to do classes online or via recording?
Absolutely - the in-person (regular priced) passes and memberships allow you to attend a class in whatever way you like: in-person, online or via recording.
Any other questions? Reach out and we'd be happy to answer them!
